In Georgioupoli you find many taverns where you can enjoy everything from fresh fish to traditional greek kitchen. There are also a great number of beachbars and and cafes on the market square to relax in the warm evening sun. Our hotel is located 80 m far from the beach and 40 m from the market square. The 12 km long sand beach offers sunbeds and umbrellas as well as quiet lonesome areas for lovers of pure nature. The river Almyros joins the sea in Georgioupoli and builds its idyllic fishers port. You can explore the river and his wild turtles by boat. The village is also famous for its beautiful chapel St Nikolaos which is built in the sea on rocks. There are many possibilities for day trips, for example a visit of the traditional cretan mountain villages. Also a nice destination for a foot or bycicle trip is the 4 km distant village Kournas and the wonderful Kournas lake surrounded by the white mountains. |
